What is Male Menopause And How Does it Cause Premature Ejaculations?

Putting the Men in Menopause

Male Menopause (also known as Andropause, Climacteric, Male Climacteric Syndrome, or Viropause) is a relatively new term.

For a long time, it was very difficult to research because men who experience the sexual repercussions in their middle age were reluctant to acknowledge the condition.

Due to the lack of participants inquiring about their sexual difficulty, often times this condition will go untreated. However, some researchers have been studying Male Menopause for decades, along with the effects of aging on reduced levels of male hormones.

The symptoms of male menopause can be linked to penile shrinkage, difficulty maintaining erections, and premature ejaculation. Unlike its female counterpart, andropause does not affect all men.

Only 40% of men in their 40s, 50s, and 60s experience some degree of lethargy, depression, increased irritability, mood swings, and difficulty in attaining and sustaining erections.

Let it also be noted that due to some circumstances, outside of simply aging (See Causes Below) Male Menopause can also affect a man in his 20s.

Male Menopause can also have somewhat of a snowball effect, especially if a spouse or significant other does not understand. I

n these cases, a man can experience anxieties and doubts, which can lead to impotence and increased sexual frustration.

A recent study surveyed 1700 middle-aged men and found that 51% of normal, healthy males age 40 to 70 experience some degree of sexual problems - defined as a persistent problem attaining and maintaining an erection rigid enough for sexual intercourse, as well as an increase in premature ejaculation.
